The Northeast Crew
The crew is three people, each with a corner of the journal they care about most and opinions about everybody else's. We write under pen names. That keeps the attention on the articles, and it lets us write about our own homes, trips and family celebrations without turning them into a diary.
Merewyn — travel and the table
Merewyn looks after the travel and food shelves. She is the one who walks the whole market before buying anything, reads the house rules at a temple gate twice and still asks a caretaker to be sure. Her pieces lean towards how to be a good guest: what to wear, what to say, what to leave alone. She wrote our guides to omakase etiquette and visiting a Buddhist temple respectfully.
Theodric — screens, gadgets and the house
Theodric covers entertainment, tech and the household shelf. He has rewired more media cabinets than he would like to admit and keeps a running list of every remote control in the house. He writes about streaming across different countries, privacy tools, lighting and the slow, satisfying work of keeping a home in order. If an article mentions cable management, it was almost certainly his.
Rosamund — events, style and the final read
Rosamund edits the events and fashion pieces and reads nearly everything before it goes live. She cares about invitations that arrive on time, dress codes guests can actually follow and photographs that capture the evening rather than the backs of heads. Her recent work includes our guides to wedding guest dress codes and the timing of invitations.
What we are not
None of us is a licensed professional in the subjects we cover. We are not electricians, doctors, financial advisers or travel agents, and we will never present ourselves as such. When an article touches on health, safety, money or the law, we keep it general and point you to someone qualified. Our value is practice and patience: rooms we have lived in, trips we have taken, mistakes we have made and drafts we have argued over.
How we work together
Each of us drafts in our own area, then hands the piece to one of the others to read without context. If that reader cannot follow it, it goes back. You can read the full routine on how a story gets made, or see more about the journal as a whole on the about page.
If you want to reach one of us in particular, write to the shared address on the contact page and mention the name. It will find its way to the right desk.
We are not experts with certificates on the wall. We are three people who keep asking how things work, then writing down the answer clearly.
