About Yes4 Northeast Living

Yes4 Northeast Living is a small journal about two halves of an ordinary good life: the evenings you spend at home and the days you spend somewhere new. One article might help you settle on the right lamp for a dark corner, the next might explain what happens at a sushi counter when the chef chooses for you. We think both belong on the same page, because the people who read us move between them all the time.

What we write about

Our shelves have filled up over the years in a slightly unplanned way, which is how most real homes fill up too. Today the journal covers:

  • Entertainment at home — internet television in many countries, sport on the sofa, games and the shows families gather around. Start in Entertainment.
  • Household — lighting, glazing, plumbing, renovations and the contractors who help with them, collected under Household.
  • Tech — streaming setups, privacy tools and the software creeping into creative work.
  • Travel and food — temples, safaris, hawker stalls and how to behave politely when you are a guest somewhere new. See Travel and Food.
  • Events and fashion — invitations, dress codes, watches and photographs of the days worth remembering.

How we like to write

We try to answer the question a reader actually has, early in the article, and save the background for later. Where a decision depends on your country, your landlord or your budget, we say so instead of pretending there is one right answer. When we do not know something, we leave it out rather than fill the gap with confident guesswork.

The journal is written by a few people using pen names. We are enthusiasts, not certified experts, and nothing here replaces advice from an electrician, a plumber, a doctor or a travel operator who knows your situation. Some articles were written with or for outside businesses; they go through the same editing as everything else, and we keep the links that came with them.

Dates and changes

Every article shows the date it was first published. Prices, streaming catalogues and travel rules move quickly, so treat older pieces as a starting point and check current details with the provider before you rely on them. If you spot something that has gone out of date, please tell us.

Where to go next

New here? Our starting page for new readers picks a handful of articles from each shelf. If you have a free evening, the long-read corner gathers our most thorough guides. To find out who writes what, visit the crew page, and if you would like to understand how an article goes from idea to publication, read how a story gets made.

Questions, corrections and kind words all arrive in the same inbox. You can reach us any time through our contact page.

The journal on one card

The journal in a few lines

What sits behind Yes4 Northeast Living.

  • Home, screens, travel, food, events and style are written side by side on purpose.

  • Each piece shows the date it first appeared.

  • Nothing here replaces a tradesperson, a doctor or a travel operator who knows your case.

  • Readers' corrections go straight back to whoever wrote the article.

Three pen names

The people behind the desk

A small crew, each looking after a corner of the journal and reading everybody else's drafts.

  • Merewyn

    Travel and food

Walks the whole market before buying anything and writes about being a considerate guest abroad.

  • Theodric

    Screens and the house

Keeps the media cabinet tidy, the cables labelled and the household shelf well stocked.

  • Rosamund

Events, style and the final read

Looks after invitations, dress codes and photographs, and reads nearly every piece before it goes live.
