Privacy for Our Readers
Yes4 Northeast Living is built as a static website. Pages are prepared in advance and delivered as finished files, so there are no reader accounts, no comment forms that store your details and no database of visitors behind the scenes. This page explains the little information that does pass through when you read or write to us. Last updated: October 2026.
What we do not use
- No analytics or statistics software that profiles visitors.
- No advertising networks, retargeting pixels or affiliate tracking scripts.
- No embedded social buttons or feeds pulling material from other platforms into the page.
- No newsletter sign-up and no mailing list.
Your cookie choice
On your first visit a small card invites you to accept or decline. Your answer is saved in your own browser using local storage, so the notice does not reappear on every page. That stored value is not sent to us and contains nothing that identifies you. Clearing this site's data in your browser deletes it whenever you wish. More detail is on our page about cookies and choices.
Server logs
A hosting company stores the journal's files and sends each page to your screen. When your browser requests a page, the provider's servers briefly record technical information such as your IP address, the time of the request, the page requested, your browser type and the referring page. These logs are used to keep the service running, to detect abuse and to fix errors. The provider retains them only for a limited time, and we never use them to profile the people who read the journal. We rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the journal secure and available as the legal basis for this.
When you email us
If you write to us at the address on our contact page, we receive your email address, your name if you include it and whatever you choose to tell us. That information serves one purpose: reading your note and replying to it. We do not add you to any list, and we delete correspondence once it is no longer needed, unless it relates to a correction or request we need to keep a record of. Please do not send sensitive personal information by email.
Links to other websites
A number of our postcards carry links that lead away from the journal. Once you follow such a link, that site's own privacy practices apply. We cannot control what other sites collect, so it is worth reading their policies too.
Your rights
If you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom or another region with similar laws, you have rights under the GDPR and comparable rules. These include the right to:
- find out which details about you we hold and get a copy of them;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have details erased once we have no good reason to hold them;
- object to or restrict certain uses of your data;
- take a complaint about us to the privacy watchdog in your own country.
Realistically, an email you wrote to us is the only personal data we are ever likely to have. To use any of these rights, write to us and we will respond within the time the law allows.
Changes to this page
If the way the site works changes, for example if we ever add a new feature that handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top. The rules for using the site itself are set out in our site rules.
